Torque plates are used to keep the stack of metal secure and compressed during the firing process.
 
A set includes
2 mild steel torque plates with pre-drilled holes and alignment notch
2 sets of high grade bolts (total of 8 bolts, in 2 different lengths)
2 sets of high grade nuts (total of 8 nuts)
 
Choose size of plates and thickness
 
3/8" thick plates can be used twice*
1/2" thick plates can be used mutliple times*
 
2" torque plates can fit 1" x 1" sheets of metal (only size to fit the Mini-furnace)
2.25" torque plates can fit 1.25" x 1.25" sheets of metal
2.5" torque plates can fit 1.5" x 1.5" sheets of metal
3" torque plates can fit 1.75" x 1.75" sheets of metal
3.25" torque plates can fit 2" x 2" sheets of metal
 
Common to use 24-18 gauge metal with 12 to 30 layers
 
*Plates may be used again, but are softened after each firing. The faces touching the stacked metal must be resurfaced smooth. Hardware should be used only once.
